Text-to-Speech

The plugin introduced a new text-to-speech feature in version 2.0.0 to support immersive reading. Currently, it is only available on PC.

Typically, text-to-speech plugins in the plugin market automatically voice all text on a webpage, but in reality, not all text on a page needs to be voiced. Therefore, this plugin's usage mode allows users to manually select text for voicing.

The main usage modes of the plugin are:

  1. Voicing text in the area where the mouse cursor is located
  2. Manually selecting text content for voicing

Enabling the Text-to-Speech Feature

First, to use this feature, we need to enable it in the plugin and save the settings. By default, this feature is turned off.

To enable it, in the plugin's voice selection interface, there will be a text-to-speech option at the bottom that needs to be manually enabled and the settings saved. After enabling the setting, the following icon will appear on the right side of the webpage: img.png

Starting Voice Output

The default shortcut key to start voice output is alt + p To voice text, move the mouse over the text or manually select a specific text area.

Due to browser restrictions, users are not allowed to play sound without interacting with the webpage, so a confirmation dialog will pop up the first time you perform text-to-speech. Click confirm to start loading and playing the voice, and there will be no such pop-up prompts afterwards.

Pause/Resume Playback

The shortcut key for pause/resume playback is alt + o

This function has no requirements for the mouse position.

Modifying Default Shortcut Key Settings

On the right side of the text-to-speech setting, there will be a hyperlink to modify shortcut keys. You can click on it to change the shortcut keys.
